ENTERING DEVICES FOR METAVERSE

There are some basic gateway equipment to get into the world of Metaverse. This blog tries to explain those seven devices to provide you with a better understanding.


Virtual reality Headsets


A virtual reality headset is a heads-up display (HUD) that permits individuals to interact with simulated environments in a first-person view. These devices bring into life the virtual environment created including movies, games, and a prerecorded 360-degree VR environment that allows users to turn and see, similar to that of the physical world. They entirely transit an individual to a fictional world, providing them full access to be a part of it. It is so immersive that an individual forgets about the real world around him/her and even forgets that he/she has been wearing a headset. Simply stated an entry gate for an individual into any virtual world that might be created. Many times, virtual reality glasses are synonymously used with metaverse as they are the closest experience that people could relate to.


Smart Phone



Metaverse is new to Indian audiences and for most in many parts of the world. It is, in its very initial stage, growing slowly and gradually. And hence the adoption of this would take a little amount of time. Transitioning the audience directly to the metaverse might be a difficult task. Therefore, many metaverses have started their journey from this entering device.

Smartphones are easy to understand. According to Investopedia, “A smartphone is a handheld electronic device that provides a connection to a cellular network and the internet.”


Smartphones are easily accessible and easy to operate for a large number of people. This is because smartphones have passed the stage that the metaverse will be going through. It has gained acceptance among the audience. Metaverse is walking along this line and working on an already established line to reach the greater position it wants to acquire.

The smartphone-enabled metaverses incorporate virtual as well as Augmented Reality. One of the finest examples of this is LOKA. LOKA is India’s first metaverse that draws a replica of Connaught place with higher goals to replicate more areas in the virtual world.


PC - Personal Computer


The next stair after smartphones lands us on the following metaverse entering device, i.e., personal computers. Enabling us with a bigger screen and greater experience, a PC enhances visual appeal and graphics. Stepping a step forward, the game performe enhances, once users are little aware of the concept.

For example- LOKA, after establishing awareness among the user, have moved to the PC version.


Console


According to Technopedia, “Console usually means a combination of a display monitor and an input device, like a keyboard and mouse pair, which allows a user to input commands and receive visual output from a computer or computer system.”


Consoles are usually linked to gaming, which today stands as an early adoption device for many individuals. They existed in the picture, since 1970, but with different technology coming in they were manipulated in terms of size and processing speed, limiting the change in the functionality.


But how are consoles linked to the metaverse?

Today, the metaverse holds no clear definition. Metaverse stands as an online space where people can work, socialize and play. Since the metaverse incorporates augmented reality, it is necessary to include interaction. Having believed that, we need the nearest accessible device to our audience to enable the slow and gradual transition. That provides a person with an illusional choice to control, the same as one gets in the real world.


Augmented Reality Glasses (Augmented Reality)


The basic meaning of Augment is to “enhance” or “increase”. It works for Computer generated content. According to Jason, “Computer-generated content is any content in the form of graphics, image, video, animation, or three-dimensional objects generated by the software.” With augmented reality glasses, there is an increase or enhancement in the experience of the computer-generated content, giving it the touch of reality.


For this, some devices help us to reach that stage, to make computer-generated content seem like reality to people. This is what augmented reality glasses are meant to do. And this is why they are important devices for entering into the metaverse.

Haptic suit and gloves




These are wearable devices that permit an individual to experience realistic touch and interactions through the natural use of suits and glove or more specifically advanced tactile feedback. It provides an addition to the sense of reality that a person experiences by engaging more sensory organs. With each technology, engagement increases as the number of sensory organs indulged increases. This device helps to include the 5th sensory organ that has been engaged in the world of technology, never before.

It tackles the hindrance through the exclusion of the barrier of controllers and opens the possibility of direct interaction, thus providing a more immersive experience.




Wrist-based bands


This device takes the user a step further and indulges the individual through proprioceptive sense or in simpler terms, body awareness sense. It is a sense that makes an individual aware of his/her body parts and where they are located without having to have a look at them. This in turn strengthens our coordination skills. This makes us aware of the amount of force to use for different activities, including pushing, pulling, holding, or lifting objects. These bands take into consideration, our proprioceptive sense.

It enables a much more realistic metaverse experience. This device activates more than just touch and takes us in the direction of feeling including pain. With the help of electrical stimulation, it stimulates a range of sensations including catching a ball, throwing it away, and many more.
